4 Tips for Furnace Repair

April 15, 2016

Spring may have sprung but in Mobile it’s not all warm and snug outside. Your furnace has been working for months attempting to keep the inside of your home comfortable, so now is the time to make sure you’re giving your furnace some TLC. If you hear funny noises or the heating system has shut down, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice a strong gas smell, you almost surely need furnace repair work and you should call Climate Control Service Experts immediately.

Before you assume that you need a furnace repair technician, review these tips from Climate Control Service Experts.

  • Check that your thermostat is set to “heat.”

It may sound crazy, but we get busy and life happens, so it can be easy to ignore the simple fixes. Neglecting to switch over the thermostat can make you think you need furnace repair and installation when really you can fix the problem with a literal flip of the switch!

  • Check your furnace switch.

Speaking of switches, make sure your furnace switch is in the up, or “on” position. As before, an easy miss, especially since this switch isn’t one you tend to look at daily. Most furnaces have built-in delays so make sure when you turn on your furnace you give it a few minutes to get going before panicking about contacting our furnace repair man.

  • Change your furnace air filter.

You should replace your home’s air filters at least every three months to help your heating system run more efficiently and put off any furnace repair work. An unclean air filter is one of the most typical reasons for poor performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for illness causing microbes and cause you and your family to become sick. Swap your filter to keep both your furnace and your family healthy. You can also schedule yearly maintenance with Climate Control and have a thorough furnace cleaning as part of your tune-up.

  • Check the circuit breaker.

Confirm that your circuit breaker that controls your heating system is in the “off” position. If it ends up in the middle position, switch the breaker to the “off” position and then switch back to the “on” position.

Furnace repairs get to be pricey, so avoid a possible issue altogether with seasonal maintenance from Climate Control Service Experts. However, if you ever do need furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to service all your heating needs.
