Service Experts Donates Over 300 Pounds of Food to Minnie's Food Pantry

August 20, 2016

The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to give over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.

“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group of people to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are an essential part of this community.”

Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to use the food they are given to make nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also give resume help along with budgeting and job classes to help families get back on their feet.

Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.

“All the team members were so ecstatic that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even took time to show us their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
