Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If this happens to you, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Climate Control Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should swap out standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.

Check Your Thermostat

Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently moved to the “Off” position.

If you review all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Climate Control Service Experts a call at 251-202-7503 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
